After all, why can’t we just buy more healthy fruits and vegetables which can be used to supplement our daily antioxidant intake?

Now, the problem is that there is practically a mind boggling variety of fruits and vegetables and other foods around which have different types of antioxidants that might benefit our bodies. How do we know which fruit contains a particular vitamin that we need, and it becomes incredibly tedious to keep track. Not to mention most people would not bother.

That is one case for antioxidant supplements. Supplements are sold based on a particular antioxidant. They provide convenience and quick access. Say if you wanted a particular substance that is available in pine bark extract. You do not go out to buy a pine tree and shed its bark. It is also the exact same reason why these things are called supplements.
